I draw the lines by hand on paper with a pen and use photoshop to color it.

What is Bex language in general like? That would definitely help in coming up with names.

Ugh, clicks and pops and whistles and some vocal cord usage...Think Prawns but not as low pitched and a little more birdy.

Prawn language is amazing, I've always loved it's complete and utter alienness, and it's not just made up gibberish either, as evidenced by this video:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfbc2R…

You really have a huge variety of sounds to choose from. Maybe something like K'sukla (' being a glottal stop, not just fancy embellishment to make the word look alien), with the 'klah' portion being a sort of click?

I could spend all day coming up with these odd names.

Yeah! Exactly! I use a lot of K and KS combos when thinking up names for them. The B in Bex is also more like a pop than a "buh" sound.

You could also use 'X', the way it is used in xylophone or literally, as a sort of click. I like using glottal stops because not only do they look cool written, but they change pronunciation in a way that is not very common. They are also one of the few language 'tricks' I know. For example, Uluuth, goes from (oo-looth) to Ulu'uth (oo-loo-ooth), instantly making the name sound exotic. In English the hyphen is used for glottal stops, an example being two-word, where the hyphen keeps it from becoming homonyms.

I like ixicul, with the 'x' being a click. Or, using whistles, you could use something like ixtacEl, where the E is whistled in the note E (bass clef, not familiar with any other clefs, but you could use any you like).

I was talking to someone about an idea involving pitches and notes written right into their language, I can't remember who it was now, it might have been you...Not sure. But I am a really big fan of using notes in the language to mean different things or give different inflections to words, their language is going to be so complex @_@

Actually, it was me. I suggested you use notes to represent the sounds.

I'd love to help you out if you ever find the task overwhelming. Language building is tons of fun :D

That does sound cool! I think for the Bex world I'm going to do scientific names like that, and then common names as well. It's just way too hard to try and write out clicky bug words haha.
