Jaku by Exobio Jaku by Exobio
Well. This started out as a sketch I swear. Also, I'm sure you will notice this is not a marine organism. I guess I have a hard time sticking to my word when it comes to what I will draw in what order haha. Also, I know at this angle it's a little hard to tell what the rest of the body looks like, but I will have a more referencey drawing up in the next little bit.

--

The Jaku's jaws evolved in a peculiar manner, unlike many Skathan creatures it not only has the split set of "jaws" but it also has a lower jaw. It's upper jaw however has become very reduced to accomodate the large set of split mandibles that take up a good portion of the head. The Jaku is bipedal, running on it's "front legs", which have evolved to become it's only legs. The mid set of legs has reduced to nothing more than colorful spurs on the sides of the body (not shown in picture). The back legs followed a similar route, though more of them is left over, two larger spurs are folded against the tail.

The Jaku is a fierce predator that lives in the shadow of the canopy of Tolaa stalks (more information on these later), it's general body color is dark, allowing it to blend in easily with the dark stalks of the Tolaa and other organisms. The biolights along it's sides and jaws are used in camouflage as well as in mating displays.

AWESOME!

I hate chain mail, but this person was begging me to do it, so I'm just gonna post this here...

"] owenarnaz: WARNING! Carry on reading! Or you will die, even if you only looked at the word warning! Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died. Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best day of ur life tomorrow. u will either get kissed or asked out, if u break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. in 53 mins someone will say i love you or im sorry"

Eh. I hate chain mail.

Not particularly, no. I was attempting to make sort of alien T. Rex. I guess I don't see the similarities other than the bipedal body plan.

Funny, because that's what Wayne Barlow wanted to make with the Arrow Tongue in his book "Expedition". :P

Well it's not exactly an illogical or strange analogue to create. Most charismatic dinosaur of all time needs an alien counterpart.

Similarities are everywhere :)

As for your evolutionary tree, just keep doodling weird things and inspiration will come. That's my method at least.

Ya, i started getting a new one, though most of the time my aliens look dinosaur like except for one planet, which is still somewhat dinosaur based. i need to find the original drawings though.

I like mixing and matching really different animals, then putting a weird spin on them.

Wow, nice creature! You seem to have a gift of turning common body designs into totally original creatures! I mean, hand me a hunched biped and I'll hand you a velociraptor, hand you a biped? You get this! :D

Very nice. The plants here are cooler than the ones on Umbar (Star Wars universe). Are the Tolaa stalks plants or fungus?

They're "plantimals." Sort of a mix between animal and plant, as in there is a symbiotic relationship that is so old that it has become part of the animal and visa versa.

Cool. So does that mean that it is also carnivorous?

This one is a very old organism and has become more plant than animal, but it is still somewhat carnivorous. I will get a drawing of one done at some point so you can actually see the entire organism.

Solitary for the most part until it finds a mate, then they will pair up in a large swatch of territory, however they do not always stay together. Sometimes they will share kills, but usually they hunt alone. They stay together all the time when they have a baby, one is always with the young while the other hunts for food, but they stay close.

I am completely flattered that you offered, but I was planning on doing a wiki or something once I get a little more information down myself, it would be easier that way since sometimes little details can and probably will get changed.

I do keep a blog updated that acts sort of like a wiki.
